Today, James Ragland wrote about a discussion he had with the city auditor's office about an audit that suggested City Hall doesn't do a good job keeping track of the property it owns.
Assistant City Manager Forest Turner attempted to lay that to rest today, saying that his office does maintain a master list of city buildings but that different departments keep different lists for a variety of reasons.
Perhaps that would have been the end of it, but to hear some on the City Council, the problem wasn't so much with the auditor's findings - it was with the fact the press and the public got to hear about them.
'How did the story get out there? For someting to get out to the media there are a lot of open doors at City Hall. Everything gets out,' said council member Carolyn Davis.
Council member Jerry Allen was worried too.
'This was broadcast prior to going through the entire process and that is why we have a bad perception out there,' he said.
